Don’t Open a New Cycle 2026 Before Closing the Old One 2025

Every year, every chapter, every season of your life is a cycle. If you rush into a new cycle without fully closing the previous one, you carry forward unfinished energy; unresolved emotions; lessons not fully learned, and experiences that didn’t get their proper closure.

If you step into 2026 while still holding on to the weight of 2025, you risk bringing the same patterns, blockages, and energetic baggage into your new year.

Close the cycle in four ways: emotionally, spiritually, energetically, and physically.

Here’s how:

1.Close the Cycle Emotionally

Do an Honest Year Review: Awareness alone releases stuck energy:

  • Reflect on the year that is about to end without judgment. What drained you? What energized you? Make the conscious decision to release anything or anyone that no longer serves you. If you need guidance on what to release, use my 2025 Year-in-Review guide here.

Release with Writing:

  • Write down emotions, thoughts, or situations you want to release. Safely burn, tear up, or discard the paper. Suppressed emotions stay in the body, let them move through.

2.Close the Cycle Spiritually

Take a cleansing bath with sea salt and set the intention to release anything that no longer serves you, preparing yourself for the new cycle.

Cleanse Your Energy & Aura

  • Option 1: Cleansing Bath

Add sea salt, essential oils, herbs, or flowers. Light a candle, say a prayer over the water, and soak while visualizing all negative energy leaving your body.

  • Option 2: Cleansing Shower

Visualize water washing away low-vibe energy, doubts, and emotional baggage. Speak your intentions aloud about what you wish to release. Optionally, rub salt over your body to absorb remaining negativity.

  • Option 3: Epsom Salt Foot Soak

Add sea salt and lemon to a bowl of water and soak your feet.

Use this affirmation:“I release all negativity, fear, and energies that do not serve my highest good. My aura is purified, strengthened, and filled with light, love, and positive energy. I am safe, protected, and aligned with my highest self.”

3.Close the Cycle Energetically

  • If you experienced a breakup or stepped away from a toxic situation this year, take the time to cut energetic cords. Physical separation isn’t enough, energetic ties can linger. Free yourself from energy that no longer serves you by setting boundaries or removing access. Ritualize the release through journaling, burning letters, taking a cleansing bath with salt or smudge your space and yourself to restore balance. (For women, yoni steaming is essential to release energy stored in the womb.) Visualize letting go of people, habits, and situations that no longer align with the person you are becoming.

4.Close the Cycle Physically

Clear your space and digital life. Remove anything or anyone connected to the previous cycle that is toxic or tied to trauma. Set boundaries and create space for new energy to flow in.

Declutter Your Environment

  • Clean your room, donate or remove clothes and items that weigh down your energy, and clear out old pictures. Then, purify your space using sage, palo santo, essential oils, or incense. You’ll feel lighter, clearer, and more energized in your environment.

Clean Your Digital Life

  • Clear your inbox, delete old files, photos, and apps. Unfollow accounts that drain you. Mental clarity often begins digitally.

Close the Year with Gratitude

Thank the challenges, lessons, and growth. Gratitude seals the year and opens the next with grace, peace, and alignment.

Now that you’ve closed the cycle, it’s time to set clear intentions for the next chapter.

Write a letter to your future self or record a video speaking your intentions aloud. Say everything you wish to manifest with clarity and belief. This aligns your mind and energy, making your intentions more powerful as you step into the new year.

Closing a cycle is more than a ritual — it’s a powerful act of self-respect.

It’s a declaration: “I honor my journey, I release what I cannot carry forward, and I am ready to step into my next chapter fully and freely.”

Be proud of yourself, close this year with gratitude, and step into 2026 with strength and confidence.
