Just like a tree cannot eat its own fruit, your gift isn’t for you but for others!

Have you ever noticed how sometimes it’s easier to see the path for others than for yourself?
You listen to their stories, and suddenly everything about their journey becomes crystal clear — their challenges, their next steps, even the timing of what’s coming (at least, that’s how it is for me). Yet when it comes to your own life, that same clarity feels far away, clouded by doubt and uncertainty.
It’s frustrating, right?
Lately, I’ve realized how easily and clearly I can tune into what’s happening in someone else’s life — with total certainty. They’ll open up, share just a few details, and right away… I just know. I can feel what’s coming for them — sometimes even down to the exact timing or specific dates. (That’s my superpower — my gift, by the way.)
Then, weeks or months later, they’ll come back to me saying: “How did you know that was going to happen?” And I smile, but deep down I’m just as amazed. Every single time.
But when it comes to my own life, it’s a whole different story.
It’s not that I don’t get any guidance or signs — I do. But it’s not as loud or obvious. There’s more doubt, more second-guessing. The clarity I have for others doesn’t always show up the same way for me.
And then I remembered something I once read from Dr. Myles Monroe that deeply resonated with me:
We’re all born with gifts, but those gifts are not meant for us — they’re meant to serve others. He said it beautifully — just like a tree bears fruit, but cannot eat its own, our gifts are designed to nourish the world, not ourselves.
That was a truly profound insight!
It reminded me that our purpose isn’t self-serving. It’s about giving. Our insight, our talents, our wisdom — they’re meant to uplift, guide, and support others.
And in doing so, we find our own healing, our own growth, our own direction.
This is the essence of service. This is how we create meaning.
So whatever gift you carry, you owe it to the world to share it. It is our duty to serve the world with the gifts God gave us when we came here.
If you’ve ever felt like you can help everyone else but feel stuck in your own journey, remember this: as you light the way for others, you slowly begin to see your own path too.
Because in service, we grow.
In giving, we receive.
And in guiding others, we’re guided too.
